Mission of Emergency Management

The City of Cahokia Heights Office of Emergency Management leads cross-organizational coordination for preparedness and response planning for the City and is the primary facilitator for implementation of prevention, preparedness, mitigation, and response strategies. The Emergency Management Office provides subject matter expertise to the Mayor, Chief of Staff, and Cabinet members before, during, and after emergency and disaster incidents, and develops crisis management, emergency response, business continuity, and special event plans. 

Specifically, the office established, implements, maintains tests, and evaluates operational systems for responding to emergencies. This means that it its the responsibility of the Office of Emergency Management to coordinate response and recovery activities of departments and organizations involved in providing emergency services, and its is also in charge of  a large number of volunteers who are used in providing these services. The office is the principal source of information on emergency management, including the indetification of training needs and developing and providing training programs.
